Dear Rei,

I hope you’re doing well, old friend. I have had a more exciting week than I think is medically recommended. I relocated out of Eken, house and all, to a nice sea-side town called Ivalgo. I’m worried about what effect the humidity will have on my library, but the weather is wonderful and I have no fees to speak of. A few government officials have come by to figure out property ownership and taxes, but each time my roommate pulled little wisps of light out of their ears, dropped them into a kettle of coffee, and the officials walked away as if they weren’t sure why they were there in the first place. There was also some light invasion, but the same roommate seems to have handled that pretty neatly.

I am sorry I haven’t been able to visit you in so long. We are both getting older, and travel is for the young. Which brings me to why I’m writing you. Maho will be coming to Hojo in the next few days. She’s acquired a sort of clam portal from an interdimensional being and it’s really helped me get to spend a lot more time with her. She was also involved in the invasion I mentioned earlier. Less flashy than my roommate, but she’s always been so good at being quiet and inconspicuous. haha 😉

Anyway, I think it’s time. The world is getting more dangerous, and my daughter has found herself in the middle of it all. I wasn’t expecting her to come of age so far away from home, but better late than never. She has earned her inheritance in a way we never expected. In her own way. If it’s safe, show her.

Your friend,
Joerg
