Session 100: Whose Will? (February 5, 2026)
Last session, our heroes went shopping!!!! They bought a number of items from:
- Todd Baker, who sold Heph the first Armor Classics Classic and who no one seemed to want to sign an insides-burning advertising contract with
- Loddy Tot, who loved their fashion montage so much she invited them to the back room of her shop in Vogue Alley
- Sofia, who became Maho’s frenemy and also invited them to her shop
- Sven Seer, a strange man with a stick-on moustache who predicted all of their deaths
- Kelvrina, who Eden swiped a Snugglebeast from
- Jacques, a kobold being puppeted by a murderous rat who the party suggested should go seek out Loper
- Xyrohani Bomledosers, who introduced Maho to a cat
- Caleb Bradham, who had a sweet fizzy drink that could kill vampires
- Ron Parchment, who had some fun art and writing tools
- Tanpip, who was nervous about the situation in Homeburr and who Heph somewhat suspiciously reassured
- Screamin’ Jake, who yelled at Sir Stab and the Executioner’s Greataxe, which Maho named “Spite”
And finally Henry Randall, who recognized the party. He considered it bad taste to be walking around disguised as multiple murdered Lucien Dynastic employees, but knowing that Sentin’s offer was still on the table for a bit longer, was willing to sell his wares.
- At Euxine Wares, Heph wanders around and spots
some interesting items while Henry Randall watches
carefully
- Heph spots the Set of Numat’s Trick Tubes, which Henry wants to sell him for 400gp, because he is upset about what Elias did way back on Arkos
- Heph manages to convince him to take the extra 200gp as restitution for Elias’ actions, and sell the rest of his products at retail price
- Heph also looks at the Set of Secret Scribe Candles and uses “Test 123 asdf” as a test phrase, and they transfer successfully
- Henry asks for an introduction to Heph’s party, and Heph introduces Eden and Maho, and he realizes Eden is the Feyling that Sentin has been helping
- Eden asks what Henry knows about the help Sentin was providing, and he responds that as business partners Sentin has told him some details of what is happening with Eden
- He knows of the mask Eden was wearing and thinks it’s unfortunate that she is not longer wearing it, and Heph jumps in to say it fell off in an accident
- Henry points out that a lot of accidents happen around Heph, to which Heph does his best to shrug it off
- Henry turns to Maho and says that he’s heard of her, and when Maho asks what he’s heard he tells her Sentin says she has a knack for a blade and some misplaced anger
- She asks why it’s misplaced, and Henry tries to tell Maho that she can’t blame Sentin for making tools that are used by Central Command
- Maho starts to go off on him about everything, and Heph jumps in to try to cool down the situation and explain that Maho is having trouble processing everything and separating different events
- He turns to Heph and asks if Heph was interested in anything else, and Heph looks to the wand on the table that Henry is playing with and asks him about it
- Henry explains he was playing around with it and trying to fix it, and Heph takes it and plays around with it a bit, using mending and his Fire Bolt gun to finally manage to get it to light
- While it is lit Heph can cast Sending with it, and he sends a message to Henry and tells him “It seems like some sort of messaging device”, to which he responds “Interesting”
- Eden uses her magic to bolster the flame and get it to burn a bit longer and ends up levitating herself, and Heph reaches out to help pull her back to the ground
- Heph haggles with Henry, getting the price of the wand to 500gp and a contract to send him the design within 10 minutes of figuring it out his insides will burn, and gives him another smaller tube to send the designs
- He also finalizes the purchase of the Scribe Candles for 1000gp and the Trick Tubes for 400gp, which he contributes 500gp and Eden puts up the rest of the 1400gp
- Henry looks respectfully at Eden and narrows his eyes at Maho
- Heph suggests that it is time to go visit
Sentin, and maybe it’s time to drop the disguises
- Eden expresses some relief at this and gladly drops her disguise self
- As we approach, we see a wooden squirrel climbing across Sentin’s shoulders to his arms as a crowd of people watch in awe as it runs around
- Sentin makes eye contact with the group, and as he locks eyes with Eden she reads a mix of emotions on his face
- There is some relief, although it isn’t relief for her safety as much as it is relief to know where she is, and she also sees cautiousness as he tries to read the situation, not knowing what has transpired between Eden and Heph and Maho
- Eden gets excited to see Sentin and waves at him, and the looks of cautiousness and suspicion on his face relaxes into a confident smile as he nods to her
- Heph takes the opportunity to show Eden the notes on her case, and she ends up taking them as Sentin’s demonstration concludes, and the crowd pushes in on him to ask questions and try to hand in resumes
- Sentin answers the questions quickly and gets away from the crowd quickly to come join our party, and as the crowd disperses he smiles and nods and walks towards us
- He says it is nice to see us in our true forms, and Eden apologizes for taking the form of his dead assistant, but he isn’t upset with Eden about it
- Eden explains Heph and Maho are a bit closer to captors, but we did bring her back to Sentin
- He asks Eden about her bursts of magic, and she explains that they are actually better since the blind has been off somehow, which he finds interesting
- Eden asks Sentin about the Blinds, trying to get his side of the story
- He explains vaguely that he learned some things and needs more data, but Eden can tell he is dancing a bit around some stuff, as a scientist he should have a lot more data about the 6 months she has forgotten
- Eden asks about the fact that her will was replaced rather than augmented, but he continues to try to explain it was just an early prototype
- Maho asks about the masks that he is so proud of, and he explains a bit more about them
- Heph asks him why nobody is around who is using the masks to augment their will and it is only being used to replace their will
- Sentin also offers Maho a contract, and
heavily implies that we are in deep trouble if we don’t accept his offer
- Heph points out that these “generous” contracts seem to be more attempts to exert his will over others
- Heph looks at Maho, and after non-verbally confirming they are on the same page, Maho pulls out her bucket, tells Sentin the bucket is shiny but has nothing inside, and then throws her contract in
- Heph does the same then lights them on fire
- Sentin exchanges looks with a Central Command soldier and then tells Eden that he is glad she has returned and that these murderers have returned her without harming her
- He asks Eden to get close to her and explains that he has let Heph and Maho get away with far too much for far too long
- Eden looks up from the Harengon notes and starts reading a passage from it, telling Sentin that she knows he’s been lying to her from the beginning, and attempts to cast Dominate Person
